Coming Out Day Liturgy Planned

Also from today's Episcopal News Update -- this sounds like a GREAT idea for both celebration and outreach ... I'm sorry I'll be in New York and not able to go myself. Check it out:

Orange County parish to host celebration of National Coming Out Day

"Removing the Mask" will be the theme of the fourth annual celebration in recognition of National Coming Out Day on Tuesday, October 9 at 7 pm.

The celebration service at St. Wilfrid of York Church, Huntington Beach, is sponsored by the Episcopal Fellowship of Lesbians and Gays and Straights (EFLAGS), a ministry of St. Wilfrid's.

The popular GLBT choral music group, the South Coast Chorale, will once again provide music. The service is designed to encourage and empower all empower people to celebrate their personhood.

While the impetus of the event is National Coming Out Day, EFLAGS and St. Wilfrid's encourage those who are already out and proud to attend, remembering that coming out is an on going process. The church is also aware that some faith communities have excluded GLBT people from their fellowship and wishes to reach those people in particular.

Clergy are invited to vest and join the processional and recessional (red stoles).
